This amplifier was built specifically for the Omega Speaker Systems forum member's to evaluate with their single driver Omega speakers. The enclosure is bare aluminum to allow each forum member to inscribe their moniker with a black "Sharpie" marker.
This enclosure was used for some testing of different circuit boards and volume controls. A Yuan Jing "Danzz" board is installed along with a Alpha volume pot, shielded input wire and Kimber TCSS on the outputs. Hammer tone gray paint and chrome metal Fender guitar knob. Includes a 15V 4.3amp power supply. This one will be discounted due to the paint flaws and extra machine screws on the top.
This amp has the following: Die-cast aluminum chassis with a textured black paint, input transformers, Twisted teflon insulated solid core input wire and Kimber TCSS output wire.
A Yuan Jing "Blue/Black" or sometimes referred to as a "Danzz" circuit board. Nichicon power supply capacitors. Alpha volume pot. Textured black enamel finish. Vintage style toggle switch. Machined metal volume knob. 3M elastomer pads on the bottom.
Named after the american composer & songwriter, Cole Porter. This was a commissioned piece by Langdon. He requested the power switch be eliminated from his amp. The TPA3116D2 draws so little idle current, this is a sensible option. Equipped with a Yuan Jing "Danzz" circuit board and Precision Electronics Corporation (PEC) volume potentiometer. Wiring is Belden brilliance and Kimber TCSS.
Named after my favorite trumpet player of all time...Wynton Marsalis.
This amplifier is equipped with a dual TPA3116D2 circuit board. An amazing sounding, silky smooth Alps Blue Velvet volume potentiometer does the volume control duties. Wiring is a combination of Teflon coated, twisted solid core copper and Kimber Kable TCSS. Solid metal, gold plated binding posts and RCA connectors. 24 kt. gold leaf pinstripe & glossy, fire engine red paint.
This amp comes with a 15V 4.3 amp external power supply.
$229 plus $18 shipping.
Named after one of my favorite female jazz/folk vocalists, Vienna Teng. I had the pleasure of hearing her live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her "Dreaming Through the Noise" and "Waking Hour" albums are incredible pieces of work and are superbly recorded.
Yuan Jing "Danzz" circuit board with Nichicon power supply capacitors. Unique, side mounted, horizontal throw, antique style, brass plated power switch.
Genuine Made in the USA Fender guitar brass plated volume knob. Alpha brand potentiometer. Twisted solid copper signal and output wire. Genuine 3M elastomer pads on the bottom plate.
I regularly get e-mails from fellow audiophiles regarding features and finishes. Naming the amps is an easy way to refer back to them in the future.
This one is named after my favorite big band jazz orchestra leader, Duke Ellington. Of course he was an amazing composer and pianist as well. This amplifier is equipped with a Made in Toronto, Canada PEC volume pot. The circuit board is a Yuan Jing "Danzz" TPA3116. Shielded signal wire and Kimber TCSS audiophile wire on the outputs. Nichicon power supply capacitors. A genuine brass plated Fender guitar knob & vintage style brass plated toggle switch adorn the front panel. Quality gold plated binding posts and Neutrik gold plated RCA's on the back panel. The amplifier comes with your choice of a 12V external power supply or power cord to use with a linear power supply.
Follow up: 11/12/15 My wife and I had a two hour listening session with this amplifier tonight. We both fell in love with the sound of this one. The PEC volume pots don't have the smoothest rotation, but they sure help to make gorgeous music.
YJ "Blue/Black" circuit board with Nichicon power supply capacitors wrapped in a solid die-cast aluminum enclosure. Teflon coated, twisted, solid copper wire with WBT silver solder. Kimber Kable TCSS wire on the outputs. PEC brand potentiometer. Vintage style toggle switch. Neoprene vibration isolation washers supporting the circuit board. Black textured enamel with silver pinstripe. Machined, solid metal, chrome plated volume knob. 3M brand elastomer feet.
Eleanora Fagan, professionally known as Billie Holiday, was an American jazz musician and singer-songwriter. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and music partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz music and pop singing.
This one input, pure and simple TPA3116D2 is equipped with the Yuan Jing "Blue/Black" board with Nichicon power supply capacitors. The rotary power switch on the left and volume pot on the right are both wearing unique clear plastic "chicken head" knobs.
The die-cast chassis is powder coated black from Hammond and pinstriped with bright silver leafing paint. Kimber Kable TCSS wire on the outputs. Neoprene vibration isolating washers support the circuit board.
This three input TPA3116D2D amplifier was built with a Gold Point input selector switch, Alps Blue Velvet potentiometer, Kimber Kable TCSS hook-up wire, WBT Silver solder, Premium binding posts, Genuine Fender solid machined knobs, neoprene circuit board isolation, 3M brand rubber isolation pads, 24kt. gold pin striping, real maple veneer, a solid die-cast aluminum chassis for RFI and EMI blocking and a vintage style brass plated power switch.
Wired with Kimber Kable TCSS 19 gauge wire & two inputs with an audiophile grade Goldpoint selector switch. Genuine Alps Blue Velvet (reputable source) volume potentiometer with exceptional channel matched tolerances. WBT silver solder throughout. Rubber isolation grommets on both sides of the circuit board. Heavy, machined, brass plated Fender volume knobs. Gold plated RCA connectors & five-way binding posts. Real Maple wood veneer. 14K gold accent striping. Solid Die-Cast aluminum chassis for RFI & EMI blocking. 3M rubber isolation pads on the bottom. An amplifier's resultant sound is a sum of it's parts.
I love the Klipsch KLF series. I've wanted to acquire a pair and modify them with new baltic birch cabinets. In December, I found a pair of KLF-20's that were the perfect candidates. New 1" thick baltic birch top, bottom and side panels were constructed. The crossovers were re-capped with Dayton Audio 1% precision poly caps. The tweeters were upgraded to Bob Crites Titanium.
This amplifier is my tribute to fixed gear bicycles. (one gear on the faceplate) A fixed gear bicycle has only one gear and it is directly tied to the rear wheel hub, with no freewheel. Used by track cyclist, professional cyclists for training, bike messengers and hipsters, it became a prominent subculture of cycling.
This amplifier has an upgraded "Audiobah" TPA3116D2 circuit board. Some fans of the popular TPA3116 amplifier prefer this circuit board over the YJ "blue/black". Preferences would be purely subjective and system dependent as I think both sound fantastic. The stock power capacitors were replaced with 35V 1000uf Nichicon Fine Gold capacitors. A Vishay 1% SMD resistor stepped attenuator performs the volume control duty.
Real brass accents adorn the black textured die cast aluminum chassis. Comments from Alex:
"I love the amp! I have owned all kinds of high end solid state, push pull tubes and SET and this amp is right up there with the best of them. I have tubes that cost more than your whole amp and it is top notch."
The amplifier circuit board is the Yuan Jing "blue/black" TPA3116D2. Equipped with a multimeter inspected, high tolerance, Alpha 100K volume control. Solid metal, gold plated five way binding posts. Gold plated RCA connectors. A very quiet, external 12V/5A switching power supply provides power for 15 watts per channel into 8 ohms. An optional 24 volt supply for 30 watts is available.
